Living in the Hood: Why Eden Park Is More Than Just a Stadium

When people think about living near Eden Park, they often think of event days, big crowds and the roar of 50,000 fans. But after years of living and selling homes throughout Kingsland, Morningside, Sandringham and Mt Eden, we've found there's another side to living in the neighbourhood that many people don't realise until they become part of it.

Eden Park has become much more than New Zealand's national stadium. Through initiatives like The Hood, Eden Park has created a genuine community programme for nearby residents, recognising that the stadium has been part of the neighbourhood for well over 120 years. Residents within the local area (within the boundary) can access benefits including tickets to selected sporting events, exclusive offers from local partners, community updates and neighbourhood initiatives designed specifically for those who call the area home. It's a great example of a major venue investing back into the community that surrounds it.

From a real estate perspective, we've always found this pocket of Auckland has a unique character. You're within walking distance of world class rugby, cricket, football and concerts and Abbey and I love the concerts! We were lucky enough to attend Guns and Roses, Billy Joel and most certainly will be catching Robbie Williams this summer! You're also surrounded by fantastic cafés, excellent public transport, sought-after schools and vibrant village centres like Kingsland. On non-event days it's a surprisingly peaceful neighbourhood, and when something special is happening, the atmosphere is unlike anywhere else in Auckland. For many buyers, that's exactly the appeal, they're not just buying a home, they're buying into a lifestyle that blends local community with some of New Zealand's biggest events. Local residents are also supported through event day traffic management and resident parking schemes to help minimise disruption during major events.

Whether you're a lifelong sports fan or simply enjoy being part of an energetic community, living around Eden Park offers something that's difficult to replicate elsewhere. It isn't for everyone, but for many of the people we've helped buy and sell in the area, being able to stroll to an All Blacks test, a Black Caps match or a sold-out concert has been one of the reasons they chose to call this neighbourhood home. Sometimes the best part of buying a property isn't just the house itself—it's becoming part of a community with a story to tell. Below is the map of the “The Hood” to find out more check it out here.
