Why we love Sandringham

Ask someone why they love living in Sandringham and you’ll rarely get just one answer. For me, one of the best things is riding around the neighbourhood on my mountain bike with Ollie or Oscar in the shotgun seat while i pick up a coffee from any number of the great coffe shops around us

For some, it’s the food. For others, it’s the character homes, the central location or the strong community feel. Usually, it’s a combination of all those things.

Sandringham has never tried too hard to be fashionable and that’s part of its charm. The village feels authentic, with independent businesses, familiar faces and some of Auckland’s best casual eateries sitting side by side. You can grab a coffee, pick up a pizza from Papa’s Pizza or enjoy one of the many excellent Indian restaurants without leaving the neighbourhood and the coffee is excellent!

Beyond the village, Sandringham is a genuinely easy place to live. It’s close to Mt Eden, Kingsland, Morningside, Mt Albert and St Lukes, with good public transport connections and Auckland’s CBD only a short trip away. You get the benefits of an inner city location while still enjoying tree lined streets, established gardens and a relaxed suburban feel.

Then there are the homes.

Sandringham’s villas, bungalows and mid-century houses give the suburb its distinctive character. Some have been carefully renovated, while others remain largely original and ready for their next owner to bring them back to life. That variety means the suburb attracts a wide range of people from first-home buyers and growing families to renovators and long-term locals moving within the area.

But the strongest part of Sandringham is its community.

We regularly meet owners who have lived in the same house for 30, 40 or even 50 years. We also meet buyers who have been waiting patiently for the right home because they don’t just want a house they specifically want to live in Sandringham.

That level of loyalty says a lot about the suburb.

We’re proud to have been recognised as RateMyAgent’s Sandringham Suburb Award winners. While receiving the award is fantastic, what matters most to us is what sits behind it. local homeowners trusting us with one of their biggest decisions.

The videos accompanying this blog are our chance to show you a few of the places and local businesses we enjoy. They aren’t intended to be a definitive guide there are far too many great spots to fit into one series. They’re simply a snapshot of why we enjoy working, selling and spending time here.

Sandringham has great homes, excellent food and an unbeatable central location. More importantly, it has personality.

That’s why we love it.
